Micah's Christmas Party

Today (12/12) was Micah's last day of class before Christmas vacation, so they had their Christmas party. Micah's class started off the party by singing Christmas and Chanukah songs, although Micah never sings along with his class. I asked him after his Thanksgiving party last month why he doesn't sing along, and he told me because they were all "baby songs"! After the singing, the children came to sit with us and they had a breakfast buffet. Julia couldn't get enough of the powdered donuts! We all had a nice time at his Christmas party, and now begins 3 weeks of vacation for Micah!

Playing in the snow!

On Sunday (12/7) night, Calvary community church had a snow night! They brought in tons of snow for the kids to play in and sled on. Micah and Julia LOVED it! It was the first time they had seen snow, and they were so excited! Micah went sledding right away, and he thought it was so much fun! He didn't want to stop all night! Julia was to little to go sledding, but she had a great time playing in the snow. She didn't want to get out of it the entire night! Calvary also had bounce houses that Micah had so much fun in! He loves to jump around, so it was perfect for him. Julia thought she wanted to go in, but as soon as I tried to put her in she changed her mind. Micah and Julia ended the night with 2 big pieces of cake that were finished in record time! They both had so much fun all night and did not want to leave when it was over!

Picking out our Christmas tree!

On Sunday (12/7), Kenji, the kids and I went to pick out our Christmas tree! The kids had a great time looking at all of the trees and we let Micah pick the one he liked best. Later that night, Kenji and I set up the Christmas tree and then all of us decorated it together. This was the first year Micah was really excited about decorating the tree and he had so much fun! When we were all done, he told Kenji and I, "mommy and daddy, I did such a beautiful job!" Julia was already asleep for the night when we were setting up the tree, but as of this morning, she has made it her lifes mission to get all of the ornaments off of the tree!

Making Christmas tree ornaments

Today (12/4) Micah and Julia made bread dough Christmas tree ornaments, which will hang on our tree once we get it. First, Micah and I made the dough. We mixed flour, veg. oil, water and salt together, and that turned into the dough we used. Next, we flattened it out (which was Micah's favorite part because he LOVES using the rolling pin). Once we had it flat, the kids used cookie cutters to make different designs for the ornaments. Once they had made enough, we put them on a cookie sheet to bake for an hour or so. Once they are done baking, you have to let them cool down and harden completely before decorating them. Since it takes awhile for them to cool down, the kids have not yet completed them. They are currently cooling down, and tomorrow evening Micah and Julia will finish them and I will post pictures of the final product! They had so much fun making them today, and I know they will have a blast decorating them tomorrow!
