Pirate Day!

Micah goes to summer camp one day a week, and each week has a different theme. This week was Pirate week. They had a treasure hunt and played other games relating to pirates. Kenji had an idea to make Micah a pirate shirt to wear to his camp. He did an amazing job with the shirt and Micah absolutely loved it and had a great day in summer camp today!

Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus

On Sunday (July 20th) Nichole and I took Micah and Somali to the Ringling Brothers circus at the staples center. It was Micah's second time at the circus and Somali's first time there. They both had an amazing time. They sat amazed throughout the entire show. Somali's favorite was the tigers and Micah loved the 7 motorcycles that drove around in the closed cage. This years circus was such a good show. They changed a lot this year and it was much more entertaining and thrilling. Our seats were so close too! We sat only 5 rows back from the front, so we got to see everything perfectly! The kids loved every minute of it and were excited to pick out souveniers and snacks as well!

Fun in the sun!

Julia spent an afternoon at my moms house and they took her swimming. She loves to be in the water! She has no idea how to swim yet, but she still hates to be held on to in the water. She thinks she can do it herself. She has the best time splashing around in the water.

Swimming with cousins!

I took the kids over to my Aunt Liz's and Uncle Tony's house for the day so that Micah and Julia could play with Gio, Gabby, Sofia, Dominic and Luca. They had the absolute best time! Micah and Dominic are so close in age, so they play so well together and they love it! We spent most of the afternoon at the pool - all of the kids had a blast! The kids pool was only 1.5 feet deep, so they got to splash around all on their own (even Julia!). Then we went back to their house and the kids played until 8:30pm!! When we were leaving Micah and Dominic even wanted to have a sleepover! So I told Micah next time we go there he can spend the night. They had such a great time there that day!

Baseball!

School ended last month and so I enrolled Micah in various summer activities to keep him active and busy durring the summer! One of those activities is Baseball! He had played last year (when he was 3) with not so much luck. He didn't have the attention span for it yet, however this year he has done great!! A year of school really helped with his attention span and he is now able to follow directions much better. He has baseball every Monday night and he LOVES it!! He has done great so far. He is the fastest runner on the team! And for anyone who really knows him, that should be no surprise! He has tons of energy! He plays well with the other children and is also making some new friends. He asks to go back all of the time!

Julia enjoys watching from the sidelines and loves to play with the extra baseballs lying around!

The Beach!

Yesterday, Nichole, Kenji and I took Micah and Julia to the beach since it was such a nice day outside. Micah had been a couple times before, but he never really liked it before and this was Julia's first time there. Micah did much better at the beach this year than last. He was still a little bit afraid of the water and it took him about an hour to warm up to it, but he eventually worked himself up into getting his feet wet! He had a great time splashing in the water and making a sand castle with his Auntie. Julia absolutely loved the beach!! She went into the water with Kenji as soon as we got there, and we couldn't get her out! All she wanted to do was let the waves crash into her - and every time they did, she would start laughing. We eventually had to make her get out when she was so cold she was shivering!! She also had a great time up on the beach playing in the sand. By the end of the day, both kids were EXHAUSTED and covered in sand - but it was a great day!

Santa Barbara Zoo!

We took Micah and Julia to the Santa Barbara zoo this past week! It was Micah's second time there and Julia's first time at the zoo. We love the Santa Barbara Zoo because its never to crowded and its small enough for the kids to walk around - but they still have tons of animals! Micah's favorite thing there was feeding the giraffess. They give you a snack and the girraff eats it right out of your hand. If you get close enough, they try to lick you. Julia loved seeing all of the animals too!

First blog!

Hello everyone!! I decided to start a blog for the Hojo Family because we have a lot of family that doesn't live near by and I thought it would be easier for everyone to come here to look at pictures, rather than emailing them all individually. Through this site, I will post updates and pictures of the family!
