Julia's Tap/Ballet class!

Julia just started taking a tap/ballet class at the Simi park and recreation center, and she LOVES it!! She has taken a couple of classes through parks and rec., but she has never REALLY enjoyed participating until this class. She goes right on in and does her dances the entire time. She has so much fun and asks every day if it is time for her dance class yet. She is also so very excited to have her own ballet dress and "glass slippers"!

Gymnastics

Micah goes to a gymnastics class every Tuesday afternoon after school. He was a little nervous at first because he is the only boy, but he really enjoys it now. He loves learning how to do flips and jumps.

Jump On It!

One of my favorite parts of the day is when I turn on the music real loud while I clean up - and durring this time, Julia and I usually take a break to dance in the kitchen. This was her dancing today!

Micah's first soccer game

Today (9/11/10) was Micah's first soccer game of the season. Micah's team, The Great White Sharks, have 10 players on it, but they play 3 against 3. It works REALLY well that way because each player gets a lot of play time and gets to play every position. Micah had so much fun! At first it was so funny because Micah couldn't remember that when the ball went out of bounds, they have to stop playing and throw it back in. He would just continue playing! Eventually he caught on and would stop chasing the ball once it was out. He did a great job for his first game ever and he is looking forward to the rest of the season.

Triunfo Canyon Park

After the beach on Sunday, Kenji and I took the kids to Triunfo Canyon park in Westlake so that they could run around a little bit more. Julia had SO much fun running around the playground playing with daddy!

California Science Center

Kenji and I took the kids to the California Science Center this past Monday, on Labor Day. We had never been there before and Micah wanted to see the Mummy exhibit. The kids had a great time! When we first got there we saw the Hubble 3D movie. It was a really neat movie! We got to watch the astronauts go up into space and fix the hubble. It was amazing to see the solar system so upclose and in such spectacular detail. We all loved the movie. After the movie we went into the museum and looked around in the body section. The kids got to see how their heart and lungs work. Once we were done in there it was time to see the Mummy exhibit. It was amazing and gross all at the same time to see all of these mummys. Micah couldn't believe they were real people that had been mummified, right in front of him. He kept asking if every one of them were real. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to take any pictures inside of the exhibit. After that we went into the ecosystems exhibits. We got to look at each ecosystem and what lives there. We went into the Polars ecosystem and the kids felt a real ice wall and they loved it! We also went into the desert ecosystem and we watched a flash flood. We all had a great time and we have to go back another day to finish looking at the entire museum.

Zuma Beach

Kenji and I took the kids to Zuma beach this past Sunday (9/5/10). It was warm by our house, but when we got to the beach it was FREEZING! I didn't think the kids were going to take off their over clothes, let alone get into the water! I was SO wrong! As soon as we got to the beach both kids took off their shirts and shorts and jumped right into the water! They didn't get out until it was time to go home! They both had the best time. This is the most Micah has been in the water. Usually he gets a little scared of the waves and stays at the edge of the water, but this time he jumped right in and went in as far as he could stand! Julia was also trying to be daring and she walked right up to where Micah was and stayed there until a wave knocked her down. She was perfectly fine though and started laughing!

Soccer Practice!

Micah has been wanting to play soccer for awhile, so I signed him up for this season. His first practice was yesterday and he had a great time! He has such a strong kick and really enjoyed running around. He is excited to start his games. His first one is just in a couple weeks on Sept. 11th!
