Snow in Simi!

Every winter at the Simi Valley Town Center, they make it snow in the courtyard by the big Christmas tree and play Christmas music. I took the kids tonight (11/24) to see the snow. They LOVED it! Once it began to snow, they started to run through it with all of the other children. They do this every night at 7pm, so I am sure this was not our last time there this winter! Micah also got to ride the train they run at the town center. Its one of his favorite things to do while we are there.

Julia gets her cast off!

Today (11/24) Julia got her cast off! She had her appointment this morning. When we got there, the nurse came in to saw her cast off. Julia was pretty scared of the saw, but it was over quickly and it didn't hurt her at all. When the cast was off, she had to go in for more X-Rays. The X-rays were quick as well. Then we had to go back in and wait to see the doctor. When the doctor came in, he pulled up her X-rays. She had a break in each of the 2 bones by her elbow when the accident first happened. Right now, one break is completely healed and the second is almost healed. The second one is healed enough that they don't want to re-cast it, but she still has to be careful not to fall on it. The doctor said the second bone should be back to 100% within 2 weeks. Julia has to go back to the doctor on December 8th for another set of X-rays just to make sure the second break has completely healed and that she is using her left arm as normal again.

Micah's Thanksgiving art project

Micah made this turkey in class the other day for Thanksgiving. I thought it was cute, and wanted to post it. He has really gotten into doing art projects this year (last year he didn't want anything to do with art projects), so I am enjoying him bringing them home.

Micah's Santa Video

There is a website you can go to to sign up and have Santa send your child a video to see if they are on the naughty or nice list. Micah was SO excited when he got the video!!

Micah's visit with Santa Claus!

Santa arrived in the mall early this year and Micah has been SO excited to see him! I took Micah and Julia today (11/17) to see Santa. Micah had his Christmas letter/picture ready to give Santa and sat and talked with him about what he wanted for Christmas and if he has been a good boy. Micah was so happy to see Santa and give him his letter, and he took a picture with him. Julia was less than thrilled to see Santa and wouldn't go anywhere near him! She stayed clung to my side the entire time. It's still early, so maybe she will get used to him sometime before Christmas and I will have a picture of her to post with Santa as well.

Micah's Santa Letter

Santa comes to the mall today (11/15) and I am taking Micah and Julia to go see him. Micah is so excited and has drawn Santa a picture of the Mac truck (a truck from the movie, Cars) that he wants for Christmas this year. Micah has not stopped talking about Santa and is SO excited! Julia was less than thrilled last year, so we will see how she does today.

Julia gets a hard cast

Today (11/3) Julia had to go back to the Orthopedist to get more xrays and to get her hard cast put on. She did a lot better than I expected her to. First they had to take a couple of xrays on her arm to see how it was coming along. She did much better this time with the xrays because the xray technician was really good and super fast. After the xrays the doctor came in to check on her arm - it was still a little bit swollen, but the doctor said she would be fine getting her cast today. So then the nurses came in and put her cast on. Julia did so much better than I thought. For the most part she just sat on my lap nice and still while the nurses put her cast on. She got a little bit scared but still cooperated. Julia is a bit annoyed with the hard cast because she can't move her arm at all anymore, but overall she is doing much better than we thought! She has to keep her cast on for 3 weeks and then on Nov. 24th we go back to the Orthopedist for more xrays. If the xrays show that her arm has healed, she will not be needing a cast anymore, and if the xrays show that her arm is still healing, they will put a cast back on for 2 more weeks.

Halloween night

Photobucket
Halloween was a busy day/night!! The evening of Halloween Micah and Julia got to go trick or treating! Micah was dressed up as the Bumble Bee transformer and Julia was a little poodle. Grandma Gail made both Julia and Micah's costumes!! She worked SO hard on them, and they both came out so great! Micah could not have been more excited! He LOVED his costume and was so excited to go out and trick or treat. Julia didn't really know what was going on, but she willingly wore her costume and she caught on quick once she realized candy was being put in her bag! We started out trick or treating by Grandma Gails house and then we drove over to Uncle Codys house. Once we got to Uncle Cody's the trick or treating really started! His neighborhood is filled with children and almost every house participates. Aunty Nichole and Uncle Cody came with Kenji and I to take the kids trick or treating. Micah and Julia had so much fun with them there! They got to trick or treat for about 2 hours and got SO much candy!! By the time we were done, the kids (especially Julia!) were so exhausted! When we were all done trick or treating, we went back to Uncle Codys house to change Micah and Julia and rest for a few minutes. Once we left, both kids passed out immediatly in the car! It was a very successful and fun Halloween!!

Halloween at school

On Halloween, Micah's class had a big Halloween party and all of the children got to wear their costumes to school. They all got special halloween treats, made pumpkins, decorated trick or treat bags and got to go trick or treating around the school. Micah had so much fun and was so excited to wear his bumble bee transformer costume that Grandma Gail made for him!
