Yesterday while we were at Boo At The Zoo in the Moorpark College teaching zoo, a reporter followed us around for most of the afternoon taking pictures of Micah. This morning one of the pictures made it into the newspaper!

Trick Or Treat at the Thousand Oaks community center
Today was a busy day!! A couple hours after we got back from Boo At The Zoo, Kenji and I took Micah and Julia to Trick Or Treat at the Thousand Oaks community center. They had a great time there. They got to trick or treat from station to station, go on pony rides, in a petting zoo and then down the haunted trail. Both kids (and Kenji and I) really enjoyed the haunted trail. They had the park and rec. teachers acting out different movie scenes along the trail. We got to see part of Beetleguis, Shrek, Willy Wonka and Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs. They did a great job and the kids really liked it. Afte the haunted trail they had tractor rides to take us back to the parking lot. It was a good night!
Boo At The Zoo!
Today (10/30/10) Nichole and I took the kids to Boo at the Zoo at the Moorpark College teaching zoo. Every year they put on an event for the kids, but this is the first year we have gone. The kids had a lot of fun. They got to play some games (and win some candy and other prizes), watch an animal show, trick or treat throughout the zoo and pet a snake. Micah and Julia were excited for the chance to wear their costumes again before Halloween! They love being able to wear them as much as possible before Halloween is over.

Pumpkin Carving 2010
Micah and Julia have been waiting for weeks to carve their pumpkins. Finally today we had the time, so they both sat down to carve them. I ended up doing most of the work though because I have two children who do NOT like to get their hands messy! The inside of the pumpkins grossed the kids out, so they sat there and watched me get my hands all goopy taking the seeds out. They were happy to have their pumpkins done though!

Cub Scout Halloween Party
Last night Micah had his first Cub Scout Halloween Party! It was the first time he has gotten to meet the rest of his Cub Scout pack. The party was a lot of fun. We had a contest where each den had to mummify their den leaders (a.k.a ME) and Micah and the other 2 boys in his den had a great time doing that! They also had a cake auction. Each of us had to bring in a dessert and it got auctioned off at the end of the night. The rest of the night the kids all got to play together and have fun. It was a good night!

Ears pierced!
Yesterday (10/15/2010) Julia and I were in the Thousand Oaks mall just walking around. As we passed Claires (a jewelry store that pierces ears) Julia told me she wanted to get her ears pierced. I have been waiting for her to ask me before we did it. She has been asking these past few months, but when I go to take her, she gets up into the chair and then says, "Ummm, actually, lets do it tomorrow!". So then we leave. I thought yesterday was going to be no different. We told the lady she wanted them pierced, we got her into the chair, filled out the paperwork and all the while I kept waiting for her to tell me, "Umm, actually, lets do it tomorrow!", but she didn't! The lady cleaned her ears and marked them and then she pierced them one by one. After the first one, Julia's big smile dropped - but she didn't cry and she let the girl pierce the other one (I was afraid that once the first one was done, she wouldn't do the second). I actually think I was more nervous than Julia was! Once they were all done, Julia loved them and quickly forgot about the little bit of pain.

Underwood Family Farms
Today (10/11/10) Julia had a field trip to Underwood Family Farms with her preschool class. We got there at 9am and once we were all checked in, we got to go on a tractor ride. The tractor ride took us on a tour of their whole farm. Julia liked seeing where the blackberrys, squash and pumpkins grew. The tour ended at the pumpkin fields where the kids got to pick their own pumpkins. We picked two out (one for Julia and one to bring home to Micah). Once that was done we walked around the rest of the farm. Julia got to go on a pony ride, a train ride (3 times!), in a bounce house and through a corn maze. She had the best time there!
